Education-Related Donations and Projects

We believe that it is important to provide young people with quality education. Hence, we actively cooperate with different education institutions to contribute to education and cultivating future talents.

Establish scholarships and research funds in mainland China and Hong Kong to cultivate academic prosperity
Since 2014, we have cooperated with the Shanghai Education Foundation of Huangpu District to set up the “Sustained Vitality, Ever Rejuvenated Education Aid Fund” (生生不息愛心助學基金) aiming to assist students in need to complete their studies and realize their dreams. Since the launch of the fund, the accumulated donation has exceeded RMB 2.2 million with about 900 students aided.

Moreover, we provide scholarship funds for the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the City University of Hong Kong (“CityU”). In 2015, the Group awarded a total of over HKD 6 million in scholarships to students studying in the City University of Hong Kong-Columbia University Joint Bachelor's Degree Program; in 2021, the Group established the “Chow Sang Sang Group Research Fund” to support the CityU’s research in materials science, artificial intelligence and smart cities. The Fund not only provides supports to facilitate cutting-edge research in improving social well-being but also encourages young scholars at CityU.

In 2024, we cooperate with the School of Life Sciences at the Sun Yat-Sen University to officially launch the 10-year “Chow Sang Sang Natural Science Scholarship” program, with a total donation of RMB 1 million. This scholarship aims to support outstanding students studying and researching environmental-related subjects as well as to promote the development of life science education and environmental protection.

Promote STEAM education in primary and secondary schools to gather innovative power
We actively promote STEAM (stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) education in Hong Kong. With our long history and expertise in precious metal testing, we hope to pass on our professional skills and scientific knowledge to the next generation in Hong Kong. Our STEAM 奪寶奇兵工作坊 (with the element of “Arts” incorporated into STEM) provides students the opportunity to learn more scientific knowledge and broaden their horizons, covering interesting topics such as gold panning, alchemy and silver restoration. As of June 2024, more than 2,200 students from 40 schools and 3 NGOs signed up for our STEAM workshops, and more than 400 of them have received subsidy.

Launched the “Business-School Partnership Program” to help students explore their career opportunities
In 2023, we were invited to participate in the "Business-School Partnership Program" launched by the Education Bureau to arrange activities for students on career exploration. A total of 72 students and teachers from 3 local secondary schools in Hong Kong participated in the " Chow Sang Sang – Jewellery Industry Workshop". This activity seeks to expand students’ horizons and create opportunities for acquiring knowledge beyond the classroom. It aims to deepen their understanding of the jewellery industry and offer insights into relevant employment opportunities. This will not only support their future educational and career paths, but also promote the sustainable development of the industry and attract new talents.

Social Welfare Activities and Volunteering Services

We attach great importance to social welfare affairs and always pay attention to different needs of the community. We partner with various organizations to advocate social integration, support philanthropy, and promote the development of arts and culture.

Organize a large team to support charity fund-raising activities through actions
Since 2013, the Group has officially launched the “Volunteer Month” program. We organize “Volunteer Month” with specific themes every year to gather employees from all regions of the Group to support all walks of life, such as caring for the disabled, visiting the elderly, donating books and used items, etc., so as to encourage our staff to take actions and give back to society.

In 2017, we organized a total of 13 teams in mainland China to participate in a charitable fund-raising hike jointly organized by the Guangzhou Charity Federation, the Guangdong Chuntao Charity Foundation and the Stars Youth Development Center at the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center to support urban and rural culture in children's reading. In this event, we sponsored bags for all participants and received a certificate issued by the Guangzhou Charity Federation and the Guangdong Science Center.

Strengthen integration with individuals in rehabilitation
Since 2021, we have cooperated with the Salvation Army-Lai King Court to organize several “Chow Sang Sang x Salvation Army Integration Workshops” in our stores. The goal is to create opportunities for individuals in rehabilitation to engage with the community and contribute to the charity bazaar featuring their exquisite products.

Support the development of Hong Kong's arts and cultural landscape
As a member of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Masters Club of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (“HK Phil”), we have been title sponsors of HK Phil concerts for many years, including the 2023 “Chow Sang Sang Jewellery proudly sponsors: Metaverse Symphony” and the 2024 “Daniele Gatti & Mao Fujita” concert, etc. The cumulative sponsorship amount exceeds HKD 2.5 million to promote the development and inheritance of Hong Kong’s arts and cultural landscape. We have also sponsored multiple performances by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, including the “Moscow Express” in 2023 and “The Top Restaurant” in 2024, with the cumulative sponsorship amount of over HKD 1.25 million. We aim to bring more joy and inspiration to the community and promoting cultural exchange and development by supporting cultural and arts activities in Hong Kong.

Cultivate New Generation

We firmly believe that talent development is one of the key factors to achieve sustainable success. We provide comprehensive training courses for frontline and back-office staff as well as management staff in a variety of ways, covering topics such as leadership, corporate efficiency, product knowledge, sales skills and market trends in the jewellery industry, etc. We also launched an online learning system that allows staff to study at their own pace to maintain work performance and prepare for future promotions.

Furthermore, we arrange sustainability-related training for department heads and all staff, covering ESG-related policies and practices, to enhance their overall capabilities and support the Group’s sustainable development.

To increase the agency for employees, we have also set up awards and platforms showcasing good performers, such as Excellent Sales Star, Talent Management Award of Business Manager, etc., to commend employees for their enthusiasm for pursuing excellent work performance and recognize their achievements.

Create a Healthy Working Environment

We attach great importance to employment experience, and provide them with a development platform, equipped with a safe and healthy working environment, sound welfare, and good career paths, which encourages them to demonstrate their talents.

Health tips and occupational safety training
We release environmental protection and health TIPS to share knowledge on healthy eating, safe commuting, and green living with our staff on a regular basis. In response to the increasingly frequent extreme weather, the “Safety Month” launched this year focused on topics such as preventive measures during severe convective weather, emergency rescue, electric vehicle travel precautions, etc. In addition, we conduct a series of occupational health and safety training from time to time, such as fire drills, safety knowledge sharing lectures, etc., covering all branch store managers and back-office department heads and staff, so as to enhance the safety of our working environment.

Celebrations and team building
During festivals and employees’ birthdays, the Group will send warm wishes and organize festival and birthday celebrations. We also regularly arrange team-building activities, such as basketball games, spring dinner, baking competitions, etc., to improve communication among employees and enhance team cohesion.

Family events and employee engagement
We held various annual events, such as “Little Stars in the Workplace (職場小明星)” parent-child day activity, to let employees and their children have fun together and further promote work-life balance. Children can experience the importance of teamwork and understand their parents’ working environment better through parent-child interaction, thereby fortifying family bonding and employees’ sense of belonging and happiness.

Culture-themed Jewellery and Stores

Chow Sang Sang continues to innovate and introduce a variety of design concepts, as well as creates great interaction and brings a wealth of experience to different customers through diversified themes.

Relive the local culture under Lion Rock
Chow Sang Sang Wong Tai Sin store perfectly integrates the community culture of Lion Rock into the store design, combining traditional customs with youthful vitality to showcase the unique culture of Lion Rock. We specially hired local artists to design murals with community characteristics, such as traditional wedding couples, chatting and playing mahjong, and requesting for fortunetelling in the temple, etc. They are presented in the store design in a unique painting way, which creates a strong sense of intimacy and regional sentiment for customers as soon as they step into the store. Meanwhile, many interactive elements have been added to the store, such as virtual request for fortunetelling, etc., to showcase the unique charm and abundant cultural heritage of the community, integrating traditional and modern elements to create a warm atmosphere in the store.

Renovate the store to recreate the feeling of old Hong Kong
To bring Chow Sang Sang classic store into a new era and highlight the Group’s history and cultural values, we comprehensively renovated the Castle Peak Road Branch in Sham Shui Po with more than 50 years’ history. The changes inside and outside the store have injected new vitality while retaining cumulative human warmth over years of operations. The exterior of the store retains the old design style, and the cross-beam signboard was re-built with new eco-friendly and durable materials. The entrance also retains the plaque that has been there since its opening. The old and new elements blend to show the unique beauty of contrast between history and modernity.

We also carefully crafted the interior design, from the decorative cabinets in warm wood tones to the stainless-steel materials used in the old store, creating a shopping environment that is both friendly and fashionable for customers. To provide more interesting experience, there is also a cultural relic wall divided into two parts. The first one is a “photogenic wall” composed of Chow Sang Sang signatures and logo designs from different eras; the second one is a historical exhibit area, displaying the jewellery-making tools and packaging used by the brand in the past, including jewellery boxes, gold buckle slots, gold molds, gold scales, jewellery receipts, etc. Customers can scan the QR code on the display card to watch the introductory video and learn more about the story behind each exhibit, exploring the feelings of old Hong Kong with us.

Integrate western art and inherit history and culture
Since 2023, we and the Victoria and Albert Museum (“V&A”) with over a century of experience in jewellery appreciation in London, England, have collaborated to deliver refined jewellery designs to the marketplace. Our design team gathered inspiration by visiting the Museum in South Kensington, London. They meticulously study the collection, designs, patterns and history to create the luxury range, step into this ground-breaking landmark retail space and see jewellery and art from a whole new perspective. The “Art to Life Experience” is an art gallery created uniquely for the K11 MUSEA location, blending classical art with digital technology. The entire concept is designed around the most representative wood block print works of William Morris - the intricate and vibrant patterns, along with the works of other renowned artists, that lead customers through a journey of savoring the delicate opulence of the Victorian era, and experiencing an immersive jewellery museum.

Collaborating with the Forbidden City Culture Development, we take inspiration from the 600-year history of the Forbidden City to infuse every masterpiece with the essence of Chinese culture and portray the classic elements with modern artistry. The latest collaboration leads you to a journey of jewellery with vitality and beauty.

Inherit Craftsmanship and Cultivate Technical Talents

Chow Sang Sang aims to pass on the unique craftsmanship from generation to generation, and achieve mutual benefits through school-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education.

Over the years, we have cooperated with the Lanzhou Resources & Environment Voc-Tech University and the Shaanxi University of International Trade & Commerce. We organized the Chow Sang Sang jewellery knowledge seminars and follow-up visits to on-the-job student interns, developed the curriculum for the majors of jewellery design and processing and held the “Chow Sang Sang Cup” Jewellery Setting/Making Competition. In 2023, we formally signed the “School-Enterprise Cooperation Framework Agreement” and order classes with the Lanzhou Resources & Environment Voc-Tech University to cultivate next generation enthusiastic about the jewellery industry and inherit our traditional craftsmanship and spirit, fostering more technical talents in this industry.
